JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 WORK SHIFT: (Monday-Friday) 6:30am - 3:00pm, rotating late assignments, no call, no weekends, no holidays. JOB SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist/LPN performs procedures, within their scope of practice, which render the safest and most effective service to the patient and surgeon. The Surgical Technologist anticipates the needs of the surgical team, proficiently handling and passing instruments, sutures, sponges and all other necessary sterile equipment as required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology
  • Good communication and decision-making skills.
  • Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
  • Must possess good physical health.
  • Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time.
  • Lifting at least 50 pounds is required.
  • Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
  • LPNs must have 1 year of surgical technology experience, acute care setting preferred.
  • Current Louisiana LPN license (if applicable)

Nice To Haves

  • one (1) year Operating Room experience preferred.
  • Surgical Technology certification preferred
