The position is for a Surgical Technologist at Advocate Health, specifically within the Surgery Room at Navicent Health Medical Center.   • Demonstrates competency in the physical care of the patient according to CGHS/unit patient care standards.
  • Provides pre and post-operative care.
  • Handles post-mortem care and unit-specific basic skills competencies.
  • Manages patients in restraints and those with infectious diseases.
  • Correctly positions patients and assists in their transfer.
  • Identifies patients at risk for falls and implements prevention strategies.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients.
  • Utilizes effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reports pertinent patient information accurately and timely.
  • Establishes therapeutic relationships with the healthcare team.
  • Participates in maintaining supplies, equipment, and cleanliness of the pod.
  • Demonstrates self-growth and accountability through participation in quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains awareness of hospital/division/unit procedure/policy changes.
  • Demonstrates competency in multiple specialties and serves in a preceptor role.
  • Prepares and maintains a sterile field and assists with emergency situations.
  • Assists in the preparation, collection, and handling of specimens.
  • Ensures effective and efficient use of supplies and equipment.
  • Minimum education of a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of a Surgical Technology program, either technical or military.
  • Certification in Surgical Technology is required.
  • One year of experience preferred.
