About The Position

The Surgical Technician is a member of the surgical team who works with Surgeons, Anesthesia, Registered nurses, and other surgical personnel in delivering care, pre-operatively, intra-operatively, and post-operatively. Participation in the coverage of the departmental 'On Call' schedule as well as shift adjustment based on the needs of the department is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree or technical degree required.
• BLS Provider credentialed from American Red Cross obtained prior to hire date.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date.

Responsibilities

• Ensures room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
• Maintains sterile field and safe environment.
• Prepares room and instruments for surgical procedure.
• Assists the surgical staff during the procedure, within the scope of practice.
• Cleans room and prepares for next procedure after the surgical procedure.
• Identifies emergency situations and exercises judgement when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies.
