About The Position

The Surgical Tech position at Orlando Health Horizon West Hospital involves demonstrating a clear understanding of sterile technique and having a working knowledge of specialized instrumentation and equipment required for various special procedures. The role is part of the HW Surgery department and operates on a Day Pool/Per Diem shift. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Surgical Technology training program, Orlando Health Training Program, or an accredited physician assistant program.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
  • Must have 1 year of Surgical Tech Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews preferences and verifies the case cart thoroughly before the procedure.
  • Maintains an orderly surgical field and consistently passes instruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon.
  • Anticipates and prioritizes the needs of the various steps associated with the procedure.
  • Takes part in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as dictated by the procedure.
  • Maintains surgical specimens in a manner that identifies and preserves them for pathology evaluation.
  • Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications throughout the facility.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates awareness of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Practices efficient use of time and supplies.
  • Maintains a clear, safe, and organized work area.
