About The Position

The surgical technologist first assistant, under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that are within validated skills received during approved, first assistant training course as well as those approved by applicable regulatory agencies, e.g. state and/or federal. The surgical technologist first assistant may also perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved first assistant training course.
• Valid certification or licensure as required by state or federal regulations.
• Experience in surgical technology and assisting in surgical procedures.

Nice To Haves

• Additional certifications in specialized surgical fields.
• Experience in a variety of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures by providing exposure, hemostasis, and closure.
• Perform intraoperative technical functions as validated by training and regulatory agencies.
• Carry out preoperative duties to prepare the surgical environment and patient.
• Execute postoperative duties to ensure patient care and recovery.
