About The Position

Provision of assistance to the operating room staff and to the needs of the physician in providing patient care under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse. Key Note- All responsibilities and essential duties are performed under the direct supervision of a CAMC clinical preceptor. Must be actively enrolled in a formalized training program for Surgical Technology.

Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in a formalized training program for Surgical Technology.
Must demonstrate competency through an initial internship competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.

Responsibilities

Assist the operating room team by preparing the OR suite for surgical procedures in a timely manner.
Practice aseptic and sterile techniques.
Apply appropriate cleaning techniques in the operating room.
Participate during the course of the procedure by handing instruments and supplies to the surgeon.
Assist with applying the dressing to the incision.
Clean and restock the room assigned.
Maintain and document all applicable required education.
Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations.
Comply with the company's attendance policy.
Participate in the continuous, quality improvement activities of the department and institution.
Perform work in a cost effective manner.
Perform work in accordance with all departmental pay practices and scheduling policies, including but not limited to, overtime, various shift work, and on-call situations.
Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization.
Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Demonstrate base knowledge of A&P, medical terminology, microbiology and pharmacology.
Applies principles of sterile technique during procedures
