About The Position

Under the guidance of the Circulating RN and experienced surgical staff, you'll expand your skills by assisting throughout the surgical process and helping ensure the surgical suite remains clean, organized, and focused on patient safety. The Surgical Technologist Extern delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services to support the efficient operation of the surgical suite. Under the supervision of the Circulating RN, the Surgical Technologist Extern assists the surgical staff in the perioperative process in accordance with the Surgical Technologist Extern's skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Currently enrolled in an approved Surgical Technologist Program
• BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Organizing and stocking the operating room with instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure each procedure is fully prepared and supported
• Assisting with patient care before, during, and after surgery, including transport, positioning, and comfort
• Supporting the surgical team during procedures by managing sterile instruments, passing tools, and helping with counts and equipment during procedures
• Helping maintain a clean, safe, and sterile environment through room turnover, restocking, and infection control practices
• Communicating clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and team members while protecting patient privacy and safety
