Summary Scrubs in and assists in the OR suite. Obtains all supplies/equipment for specific surgical procedures, sets up and maintains the sterile field. Job Duties The essential functions of this job are identified with an asterisk () at the end of the bullet point. Cares for all patients who enter the OR suite. Acts in the role of a scrub nurse. Maintains certifications in all areas within scope of practice (if applicable). Orients new scrub personnel as needed. Sets up a sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medications/solutions needed for procedure. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed. Gowns and gloves, surgeons and assistants. Helps in draping sterile fields. Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure appropriately. Prepares sterile dressings. Assists in patient transfer to cart at the end of procedure. Returns soiled instruments to decontamination room for terminal sterilization. Assists team with cleaning of room. Assists in the prepping room for the next patient. Performs responsibilities within the scope of governing organizations and MLHS policies. Utilize assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation processes. Actively works to reduce errors.
