We are seeking a highly skilled FT Surg Tech to join our surgery team at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center! Requirements

  • Certification as a surgical technologist (CST) required.
  • 1-2 years of scrubbing experience in an operating room setting.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Surgical technology preparation and/or experience in operating room technique required.

Nice To Haves

  • Nurse Aide experience is a preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for planning and preparing for the surgical procedure and assisting the surgeon.
  • Responsible for sterilization of surgical equipment and to assemble scheduled and emergency case carts.
  • Demonstrates correct Materials Management (instruments, sponges, needles, etc.).
  • Displays various transfer techniques with sharps, as needed.
  • Counting of surgical objects as required per policy.
  • Accountability and care of surgical specimens.
  • Consistently practices procedures to protect self and others and adheres to OSHA exposure plan guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the surgery environment.
  • Using the correct Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Having and practicing the skills necessary to function within all surgery specialties (Ortho, Neuro, General, Vascular, OB/GYN, Plastic, Cysto, Uro and Opth).
  • Scrubs for operative procedures demonstrating good aseptic technique, knowledge of perioperative safety and infection control guidelines, and appropriate handling of instruments, suture, and specimens.
  • Demonstrates competency in assisting the nurse in the care of the patient by assisting with patient prep, patient positioning, and transportation of the patient.
