About The Position
POSITION SUMMARY: The Surgical Technician Apprentice is member of the surgical technician training program and works under the supervision of the Surgical Technician Educator. This year long training program will teach the apprentice to provide support for surgeons throughout the operation by preparing, providing and caring for instruments and equipment and maintaining a sterile field.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BLS certification required within 6 months of starting the training program
- Knowledge of care and handling of instruments and equipment
- Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures
- Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.
Nice To Haves
- Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred.
- One year experience in an acute care hospital setting in the operating room or an instrument care environment preferred.
