About The Position

The hourly rate for this position is $18.00/hour. This is an Hourly position. Apprentices will receive fully funded tuition as well as an Apprentice Stipend to assist with the cost-of-living expenses while enrolled full-time in the Surgical Technologist program at Illinois Central College.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/ GED.
• Must be enrolled in the Illinois Central College Surgical Technologist Program in the Spring 2026 semester.
• BLS from the American Heart Association.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a 2 year apprenticeship program.
• Work as a Surgical Technologist Apprentice at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for a minimum of 8 hours per week.
• Spend 8 hours per week cleaning the operating room and assisting with storage of equipment and supplies.
• Assist the surgeon during the operative procedure by maintaining inventory, passing instruments and supplies, and holding retractors.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served (newborn through geriatric).
