About The Position

The Surgical Technologist performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for perioperative patients. This includes preparing patient skin for surgery in accordance with Infirmary Health’s standards, positioning patients according to the type of surgery, and maintaining aseptic techniques. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for cleaning, preparing, storing, distributing, and maintaining various supplies, equipment, and instruments to ensure efficient operation and patient safety in the operating room. Additionally, this role serves as a resource to other department staff.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology or 15 or more years’ experience working as a Surgical Tech or grandfathered into Surgical Tech (911005) prior to 02/12/2017.
• Good communications skills.
• Record keeping skills sufficient to manage required documentation.
• Working knowledge of OR instruments, equipment, and procedures.
• BLS certification.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or current certification as a Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C) from National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) for incumbents grandfathered into Surgical Tech (911005) position prior to 02/12/2017.
