About The Position

In this highly technical, fast-paced, and rewarding position, the Surgical Technician II Certified will collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide the very best care for patients. The role requires a thorough understanding of the surgical procedures being performed, ensuring that all necessary equipment, instrumentation, and supplies are available for each case. The Surgical Technician will anticipate the needs of the surgeon and handle the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Additionally, the technician will participate in setting up and turning over the operating room for cases, ensuring a smooth transition between procedures. The Surgical Technician II Certified is responsible for anticipating the needs of the surgical team, obtaining instrumentation and supplies, and ensuring they are available for the procedure. This includes passing instruments to the surgeon and assistant during the procedure, assisting with the terminal cleaning of the room, and preparing for the following case. The technician will also begin cleaning up the back table and preparing instruments for terminal cleaning and sterilization as the circulator prepares the patient to leave the room. Furthermore, the technician will be responsible for placing instruments back in the tray for transport to the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and must adhere to all policies and procedures, such as count policy, universal protocol, and labeling of medications. In addition to these responsibilities, the Surgical Technician II Certified will work with students and inexperienced staff, providing guidance on the correct methods for passing and retrieving instruments during surgical procedures. This role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency and safety of the surgical environment, contributing to the overall success of the surgical team and the well-being of patients.
