About The Position

About this unit The MHC OR consists of 9 operating rooms including 4 hybrid ORs that both the vascular and cardiovascular service lines utilize. The integrated PV/CV team takes care of all peripheral vascular cases (AAA, fem-pops, EVAR, angios, carotids etc.) and cardiothoracic cases (CABG, Valve, TAVR, Robotics, VAD, Transplant, Lung surgery). In joining this team, you will be part of one of the largest cardiovascular OR teams in the nation. This in turn ensures the best outcomes for our patients as competent staff deliver the highest quality care. About Meijer Heart Center The heart and vascular systems demand extraordinary care. It begins with heart specialists who can expertly monitor your entire heart and vascular system and perform anything from a bypass to vascular surgery to a heart and lung transplant. Orientation Orientation will consist of 6-8 weeks full time days training with the hours of 6:30am-7:00pm. Scope of work Assists in the preparation, delivery and clean-up of patient care during the intra-operative phase. Contributes to the smooth operation of the unit. Obtains and organizes necessary equipment, sterile supplies and instruments for each surgical case. Assembles surgical supplies for rooms and case tables. Opens sterile supplies for surgical procedures. Cleans equipment (including decontamination and sterilization of instruments), work areas and reusable supplies and returns unneeded equipment to appropriate department. Also follows-up on equipment needing repairs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • AHA or ARC American Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 Days of hire required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree in related field Preferred
  • 2 years of relevant experience Patient Care Preferred
  • 1 year of relevant experience in Operating Room Preferred
  • Anesthesia Technician Certification (Cer. A.T.) preferred
