It's more than a career, it's a calling. MO-SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital 1201 Grand Worker Type: Regular Job Summary: Leads and coordinates activities in the neuro surgery and ortho spine surgical specialties and other tasks in support of surgical and central sterile services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a technical program for operating room technicians
  • Six months' experience in surgical specialty or two years' of surgical technician experience
  • Constant use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Constant use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Constant lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting/moving patients.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching and gripping.
  • Frequent use of clear vision at 20 inches or less.
  • Frequent use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing over 50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of clear vision at 20 feet or more.
  • Occasional use of sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional keyboard use/data entry.
  • Rare kneeling.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
  • Tech in Surgery - Certified - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • National Registered Surgical Technician (NRST) - American Allied Health Association (AAH)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates shift operations including scheduling, assigned activities, and resources.
  • Serves as a technical or functional resource for staff and performs similar duties.
  • Assigns, monitors and reviews progress of work.
  • Monitors and reports compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Oversees and evaluates orientation and training of assigned associates.
  • May provide input in the review and evaluation of staff performance.
  • Oversees utilization and maintenance of supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
