About The Position

IU Health Methodist proudly anchors downtown Indianapolis as a Level 1 Trauma facility, featuring 29 state-of-the-art Operating suites. Our expertise spans diverse specialties, including Trauma, Orthopedics, Cardiovascular, Vascular, Neurology, and General Surgery. From tackling complex cases to addressing the challenges of Trauma injuries, we provide critical care for high acuity patients across various clinical specialties. This position is a day shift role working 7:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday. On-call and Holiday required. Surgical Skilled Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assists in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA within four months of employment required.
  • Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • Ability to resource advanced technology required.
  • 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law required.
  • Knowledge of various surgical procedures to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and recognize problems encountered by the surgeon within 12 months of employment required.
  • Knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation required.
  • Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field required.

Responsibilities
