As a Surgical Services Support Technician in the Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, you will have opportunities to interact with patients while transporting them to designated areas. In addition to performing various technical support tasks, your role is essential to ensuring a safe and sanitary operating room environment. A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. -- 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday / No weekends and No Holidays

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or willing to obtain within the new hire period
  • One year of customer service experience
  • Requires full range of body motion including ability to lift and/or bear the weight of 100 pounds with assistance, or more while pulling, lifting, pushing and transferring patients to and from various apparatus; regularly pushes moderate to heavy weight of 100 pounds or more.
  • Exposure to body fluids.
  • Must be available for flexible scheduling according to the needs of the surgical area.
  • Floating may be expected per assignment policies within the surgical support department.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • You will be required to comply with this program, which will include obtaining an influenza vaccination on an annual basis or obtaining an approved exemption.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transport patients to designated areas per nursing requests.
  • Assist nursing caregivers during surgical cases as requested.
  • Maintain and control support services equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain the OR in an aesthetically safe and sanitary condition.
  • Enter job tasks into electronic computer software systems.
  • Assist in prepping and shaving patients for surgery.
  • Coordinate and maintain uniform room activities, such as locker assignments and scrubs.
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous waste.
  • Comply with special cleaning requests for radioactive waste and infection control surgical cases.
