About The Position

Under the supervision of the LPN, RN, or nurse leader, the Patient Care Tech (PCT) performs patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care activities to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient. Through collaborative practice with all members of the care team, is responsible for patient outcomes that meet the high quality of care provided by ThedaCare. Contributes to the goals of the department by being accountable for the delivery of compassionate, safe care and demonstrated commitment to continuous growth and professional development. ThedaCare’s Orthopedic, Spine, and Pain (OSP) center is a comprehensive health center specializing in orthopedic, spine, and pain care dedicated to improving the patient experience. The overnight stay unit consists of 15 beds, a therapy gym, and activities of daily living apartment as well as ancillary services provided from lab, pharmacy, imaging, therapy, and dining. Team members utilize state of the art technology to keep patients and their families informed and up to date regarding the plan of care.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age required expect for Peabody Manor, The Heritage or Juliette Manor
  • American Heart Association HealthCare Provider Life Support (BLS)

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs delegated patient care activities using evidence-based practice and specific competencies for the patient population served.
  • Checks patients’ vital signs, height, and weight, as needed, based on patient type.
  • Provides compassionate care and listens to patients’ concerns and guides them by answering any questions or concerns.
  • Identifies and escalates changes in patient status or patient risks to prevent crisis.
  • Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports to care team.
  • Repositions, transfers, ambulates and transports patients.
  • Assists patients with basic needs (such as hygiene, eating, using the restroom, and dressing).
  • Obtains and reports patient intake and output.
  • Performs electrocardiograms (ECGs) as directed.
  • Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
  • Provides care that is age appropriate, culturally specific, and developmentally appropriate in an environment that promotes patient safety.
  • Demonstrates professional and therapeutic relationships with patients, families, team members, and providers.
