About The Position

The Surgical Services Clinical Resource Coordinator works collaboratively with surgeons, clinical staff, and interdisciplinary team members to support designated surgical service lines. This role is responsible for coordinating service line activities, communicating with vendors, and ensuring the availability and readiness of appropriate surgical equipment and supplies. The position is structured with approximately 70% focus on service line coordination and 30% hands-on clinical support, including circulating in surgical cases. This role would support one the following service lines: General Surgery / Plastics / Robotic Urogynecology / Colorectal Orthopedics / Neurosurgery (Spine)

Requirements

  • Graduate of a surgical tech or nursing program.
  • Formal clinical training in surgery is required via Nursing or Surgical Technology.
  • Commensurate with clinical training (i.e. CST, RN).
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Four (4) years progressive healthcare experience in a Surgery department.
  • Must have prior Circulator or Scrub experience within a Operating Room/OR setting
  • Extensive experience with all applicable medical products and their respective manufacturer and vendor.
  • Computer application experience to include: Affinity, Microsoft Office, Lawson and other applicable corporate software.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience in addition to the requirement above.

  • CST and RN licensure highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Timely procures and allocates resources that are of limited supply and mission critical to the provision of clinical services in Surgery, including collaborating with other facilities
  • Collaborates with Surgical Materials Management to assure point-of-use contractual compliance on all non-stock items and services.
  • Resolves supply issues related to invoicing, product handling requirements, surgical documentation, and product integrity.
  • Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of the management team and department guidelines.
  • Participates in meetings with surgical clinical staff, materials management, and physicians for the purpose of discussing utilization of products, shared resources and new technologies.
  • Works in collaboration with supply/business managers by identifying product, equipment, service and utilization saving opportunities.
  • Utilizes EPIC to monitor and track the disposition of non-stock items specific to product, physician, and patient.
  • Able to participate in and prioritizes the needs of the various steps associated with surgical procedures.
  • Prepares and conducts technical performance-oriented training related to specialty services and equipment.
  • In collaboration with clinical leadership, assists with process improvement activities, and contributes to organizational effectiveness, demonstrates career growth and development.
  • Serves as a resource expert.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Works with surgery scheduling to allocate shared resources on future bookings and ensures accurate case cards are chosen.
  • Assists with preference card building for current and new surgeons as deemed necessary by the department.
  • Receives case tag audits and works with surgical staff to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Assists the charge management team with all issues related to posting charges for supply items and services.
  • Participates in the process improvement activities (to include but not limited to First Case on Time Starts and Turnover Time) related to clinical resource management.
  • Works with all vendors deemed necessary by the department to arrange for availability of needed equipment and instrumentation.
  • Works with vendors/reps to stay up to date on new products and coordinates vendor training.
  • Assists in department needs in a surgical Technologist III role.
  • Completes all Orlando Health mandatory education.
  • Assumes the responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
