Operating room nurses are trained to circulate and scrub in a variety of surgical cases. Our various surgical specialties perform more than 43,000 procedures annually and include top tier talent. Northwestern Medicine’s River North Surgery Center (RNSC) is a free-standing ambulatory surgery site located in close proximity to the main campus, specializing in the following specialties, but not limited to: Ear, Nose, and Throat Orthopedics Ophthalmology Pain Plastics Northwestern Memorial Hospital has 60+ operating rooms. River North Surgery Center consists of 4 operating rooms focused on outpatient procedures. Employees will flex back to the main campus (NMH) based on patient needs and surgical volume. Employees are required to participate in NMH in-services. OR Scheduling and Call Requirements: Team members will take short call (i.e. finish cases) at RNSC. Employees will flex back to the main campus based on volume at the RNSC. Team members will rotate to the holiday schedule at NMH OR. Team members will rotate to the weekend, as needed. Northwestern Memorial Hospital is certified as a Level I trauma center and stroke center and offers high-quality specialty emergency and trauma services. The Surgical Services Clinical Nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. The role of the professional clinical nurse is unique and essential to the care of the patient. The nurse demonstrates that unique and essential function through the framework for nursing practice.

Requirements

Graduate of an NLN accredited school/college of nursing.
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher.
Current State of Illinois, Registered Professional Nurse license.
Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation recognition (healthcare provider level).
Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative).
Oral, listening and written communication skills.
Strong human relation skills to interact effectively and collaborate with others in difficult situations.
Use of a keyboard to enter or retrieve data.

Nice To Haves

Experience in specific clinical area.
Nursing specialty certification, if eligible.

Identifies priorities, sets realistic and measurable goals, prescribes and implements nursing interventions in a safe and timely manner.
Develops and implements individualized education plans for patients and families using suitable instructional materials and methods
Evaluates and documents the patient's responses to nursing interventions in the health record and properly individualizes the plan of care based on the evaluation of findings.
