About The Position

The Surgical Scrub Technician (CST) position at Ari Hyman, MD is a part-time, per diem role focused on supporting surgical procedures in a high-end facial plastic surgery practice. The technician will work closely with the surgical team to ensure the operating room is prepared and maintained according to strict protocols, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of surgical operations.

Requirements

• Valid Certified Surgical Technologist certification.
• Up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.
• Experience in ENT, facial plastics, or plastic surgery (preferred).
• Willingness to commit to working 3 days per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays) per diem, with flexibility to cover additional cases as needed.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Competence in sterilization practices.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment without physical limitations.
• Professional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the OR room by setting up surgical instruments and equipment.
• Assist the surgeon at all times during surgery.
• Assemble instrument trays and surgical sets according to the practice's guidelines.
• Clean, disinfect and sterilize medical instruments and equipment using proper techniques and practices.
• Follow proper handling and storage procedures for sterile items.
• Assist team members in cleaning and preparing the OR between surgeries.
• Adhere to infection-control protocols and maintain a clean work area.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments for surgeries.
• Monitor and manage H2O oxygen tanks, changing them over and ordering when needed.
• Manage all surgical logs and ensure they are up to date.
