About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required).
  • 1 year recent surgical scheduling experience (Required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize deadline-driven workloads.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in related field (Preferred).
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field (Preferred).
  • Medical Coding certification (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Schedule surgery with patients.
  • Post surgery at designated hospitals.
  • Schedule preoperative and post-operative office appointments for surgical patients.
  • Compile patient's surgery charts and appropriate paperwork.
  • Complete preliminary paperwork needed for each surgical patient and place in chart for physician to review.
  • Obtain pre-certification/insurance checks when necessary.
  • Copy each patient's surgical paperwork and send to the appropriate hospital.
  • Schedule and coordinate pre-operative surgical tests or clearances for patients.
  • Coordinate with instrumentation companies for special equipment needed.
  • Prepare and distribute the weekly surgical posting sheet for billing.
  • Promote teamwork by working effectively as a team member and independently.
  • Identify and report changes in patient condition/behavior to nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with physicians and office staff for patient needs.
  • Maintain knowledge of compliance requirements.
  • Perform general receptionist duties including answering phones and scheduling procedures.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform scheduling and order entry using computerized systems.
  • Direct admit patients as necessary.
  • Identify and complete follow-up measures to resolve issues.
  • Coordinate cases with multiple offices for pre-op tests.
  • Give prep instructions for tests and surgeries.
  • Notify Patient Navigation for cancer cases.
  • Set up physical therapy when necessary.
  • Perform line-ups for surgery with surgical facilities.
  • Navigate systems to access patient information.
  • Communicate and order supplies and forms efficiently.
  • Support departmental productivity through volunteering for changes.
