SURGICAL RECEPTIONIST (Part Time) Provides indirect patient care for the department. Prepares patient records. Performs all secretarial duties as requested. Maintains communication lines for the department. Orders equipment and office supplies as needed. Duties: Daily opens/closes work area including waiting room/patient restroom per protocol. Interacts professionally with physicians, patients, families, and others. Has a working knowledge of customer services principles and practices. Uses telephone in a polite manner and communicates information to appropriate personnel. Prepares chart packets for the call room to provide a steady supply of packets. Runs daily surgery schedules and notifies staff of any changes. Delivers schedules to appropriate staff on surgery day. Builds working relationships with all staff and is a “team player”. Introduces self to patients while using appropriate volume and tone of voice. Establishing personal rapport with patients and their family/significant other(s). Keep patients and families notified of any delays. Utilizes initiative and strives to maintain a steady level of productivity. Checks in surgery patients promptly and accurately documents in the patient record and EMR system. Resolves patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Maintains the implant log book. Runs end of shift balance reports and reports irregularities to DON & billing and insurance. Performs all front office responsibilities in an efficient, professional and polite manner. Orders office supplies, printing, and kitchen as needed from assigned vendors. Coordinates orders with clinic as needed. Complies with OSHA, HIPAA and CLIA regulations. Complies with facility policies and the employee handbook. Follows and promotes the facility mission, vision and values and Dr. Black’s guiding principles. Performs other duties as needed. Professional Requirements: Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean. Maintains neat and clean work area. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Completes work within designated times. Attends at least 80% of staff meetings annually, reads and returns all staff meeting minutes if absent. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility. Completes mandatory annual education as scheduled and in a timely fashion. Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly. Regulatory Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent. Understanding of Medical Terminology. Certified in CPR. Skills: Basic computer knowledge. Knowledgeable in skills of patient and guest relations.
