SUMMARY: Under close supervision and/or following standard procedures, provides routine assistance to pathologists, residents and pathologists’ assistants working in the surgical pathology suite, in performing autopsies and assisting in general departmental functions. Maintains the surgical suite and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and performs other duties as assigned; occasionally may be required to maintain morgue if diener is not available. Performs surgical pathology examinations, including gross dissections, photography, etc., under the supervision of the Director of Surgical Pathology, attending pathologists and pathologists’ assistants. The Surgical Pathology Assistant is assigned to the surgical pathology suite to perform autopsy functions.
