About The Position

Dartmouth Health’s Department of Orthopaedics is currently seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (PA or NP) to work at our academic medical center in Lebanon, NH. You will play a key role in delivering comprehensive musculoskeletal care. In this collaborative environment, you’ll work alongside physicians, APPs, residents, and clinical support staff to manage both acute and chronic orthopedic conditions. This role offers a unique blend of operative and non-operative responsibilities, providing opportunities to evaluate patients in clinic, perform procedures such as casting, splinting, injections, and assist in surgeries, while supporting coordinated, patient-centered care across the full spectrum of orthopedic services. About Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center: This position is based at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC), Dartmouth Health’s tertiary care central hub, which also serves as the system’s Academic Medical Center. DHMC is the state’s only Level 1 trauma center and home to our NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Requirements

  • BLS certification
  • Current (or eligible) certification to practice as a PA or APRN in NH
  • Successful completion of an approved PA/APRN program
  • National specialty certification as RNFA or certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) if first-assisting in the OR

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive musculoskeletal care, including patient evaluation, imaging, treatment planning, and documentation.
  • Coordinate referrals and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Manage patient communications, including calls, prescription refills, results, and urgent triage.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as injections, aspirations, splinting, casting, bracing, minor outpatient procedures, and wound care.
  • Assist attending physicians with operative care and surgical management as needed.
  • Maintain clinical volumes aligned with departmental needs.
  • Participate in peer-to-peer reviews for insurance coverage and support administrative requirements.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives and educational opportunities, including mentoring APPs, students, and peers.
  • Cover call from the Coordination Capacity Center on a rotational basis.
