About The Position

Were seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Surgical Medical Assistant to join our collaborative care team. In this role, youll perform patient-oriented procedures under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and with delegation from a Physician. Youll play a key role in ensuring each surgical patient receives high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care throughout their visit.

Requirements

Medical Assistant certification required
Two to three years of experience in a clinical environment
Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures
Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to adapt quickly and perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
Proven ability to work cooperatively with physicians, nurses, management, and peers
Strong organizational and critical-thinking skills

Responsibilities

Assist physicians with surgical procedures and examinations
Prepare and set up for surgical and in-office procedures
Perform patient-oriented procedures as directed by the physician or RN
Complete all required documentation for surgical patients accurately and thoroughly
Coordinate and track diagnostic and lab orders and results
Document patient communications, messages, and clinical updates in the EHR
Apply and assist with casts, splints, and wound care, including dressing changes and suture removal
Provide patient education on pre- and post-operative care
Administer injections and medications as delegated and supervised
Float to other clinical sites as needed to support provider schedules
Maintain clean, well-stocked, and organized procedure areas
