Requirements

• Current certification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA), or through the National Surgical Association as a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA), American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA), OR Proof of previous experience as a surgeon.
• BLS certification.
• Completion of a training program for surgical first assisting, documented on the job first assist training in a hospital setting or documented experience as a surgeon.

Responsibilities

• Provides aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.
• Performs pre-operative and post-operative duties to better facilitate proper patient care.
• Collaborates as part of the OR team to ensure efficient and timely room set up and turnover.
• Adheres to the Florida Hospital Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
• Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
