In an environment of continuous quality improvement , the Surgical Coordinator is responsible for rendering professional nursing care and directing and guiding patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel. Exhibits the Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times. Job Functions: Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments upon admission according to defined standards. Collects and documents data related to patient’s physical, mental, developmental, emotional and social condition. Demonstrates age-specific competency in assessment of patients by the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient needs, knowledge of growth and development, and understanding of the treatment needed. Assesses patient/family need for education and uses an individualized approach in delivery style. Formulates goals and outcomes based on assessment data. Entries into medica l record follow hospital policy (date, time, use of appropriate abbreviations, and legibility) . Completes computerized documentation per policy. All documentation is accurate and completed within a timely manner. Performs functions of Surgical Coordinator. Has the authority and responsibility to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, discipline, direct, or recommend such actions by using independent judgment. Completes and conducts employee performance evaluations based on direct observation of their employee’s job performance. Granted authority to perform the supervisory duties and are held accountable for performing such duties. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
