About The Position

The position involves traveling to various Omni Eye Services locations and/or surgical facilities as required by management. The primary focus is to ensure that patient needs are met in accordance with the surgery center's protocols and physician instructions. This role includes scheduling patients for surgical procedures, reviewing surgical packets, and coordinating with other departments to facilitate patient care.

Responsibilities

• Travel to Omni Eye Services locations and/or surgical facilities as deemed necessary by management.
• Ensure patient needs are met in accordance with the surgery center, physician instructions, and administrative protocol.
• Schedule patients in person or over the phone for the recommended surgical procedure, completing all necessary paperwork and entering appointments into the computerized scheduler.
• Review surgical packets with patients, going over all enclosed paperwork and details involved with the surgery.
• Create surgical packets to be kept in the department with necessary consents and medical paperwork attached and sorted.
• Collect payments for multifocal lenses and self-pay patients if necessary.
• Coordinate activities with other departments or doctor offices if necessary.
• Consult with nurse managers, doctors, and staff on medical problems, special accommodations, and policies to ensure patient needs are met.
• Schedule procedures with the facility if required and forward necessary information to the facility for surgery.
• Submit medication to pharmacy prior to surgery if required.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain any necessary referrals/authorizations for the surgeon and the facility, entering information in the NextGen system if required.
• Obtain the required medical clearance if necessary.
• Answer telephone/emails, respond to inquiries, direct callers to appropriate personnel, or initiate a triage slip for response by medical personnel.
• Confirm patient surgery appointments with all necessary information to ensure all questions have been answered and information is clear.
• Scan surgical packets.
• Check in patients within NextGen and scan surgical encounters if necessary.
