About The Position

The position involves monitoring and coordinating surgical scheduling tasks for assigned providers. Requirements

  • 1 year of surgical scheduling experience (Required)
  • 2-3 years of medical office experience (Required)
  • High school diploma or GED (Required)
  • Knowledge of medical practice protocols for scheduling and patient demographics.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and medical terminology.
  • Understanding of insurance practices, CPT, and ICD-10 coding.

Nice To Haves

  • Urology experience (preferred)
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume office (Preferred)
  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
  • Surgical scheduling experience (required)

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and coordinates surgical scheduling tasks for assigned providers.
  • Manages authorization or obtains authorizations for procedures, diagnostic testing, medication authorizations, pre-operative testing, or surgeries.
  • Schedules internal and external appointments, procedures, and surgeries.
  • Reviews surgical procedures with patients, providing education and securing signatures on required documents.
  • Confirms patient surgical and diagnostic appointments with appropriate facilities.
  • Schedules or coordinates pre-admission testing and surgical clearance appointments.
  • Reviews pre-operative testing results and forwards abnormal test reports to the surgeon and clinical coordinator.
  • Ensures completeness and accuracy of charts prior to pre-operative testing and surgeries.
  • Greets and directs patients and visitors, answers telephone calls promptly.
  • Utilizes Electronic Medical Record to document all patient communications.
  • Assists with any other assigned duties or tasks.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
