Surgical Clinical Assistant (Athletic Trainer or Certified Medical Assistant)
About The Position
Rothman Orthopaedics is looking to hire a full time Surgical Clinical Assistant (Athletic Trainer OR Certified Medical Assistant) based in our Bensalem, PA office! This position is designed to support one of our Foot & Ankle Surgeons and will require travel to our Newtown, PA and Princeton, NJ offices. Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:15 AM to 5 PM (8 hour shift) Job Summary: The Surgical Clinical Assistant (SCA) provides assistance to the Physician and Physician's Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties. Responsibilities include assisting with post-op suture and staple removal, post-op wound care, pre-admissions testing orders, responding to patient calls and messages, and more. Key Accountabilities: Increase patient satisfaction, compliance with schedule prep, voicemail, compliance with policies and procedures, decrease wait times.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED minimum education requirement
- Must be a CCMA or ATC
- Professional license/certification must be active and valid
- Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology
- Computer skills including, but not limited to, MS Office Suite

- Experience with EMR system(s) preferred
Responsibilities
- Greets patients in the waiting room and escorts them to the exam room.
- Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout.
- Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to enter.
- Cleans and autoclaves instruments.
- Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for Physician's review.
- Records vitals as per Physician's request.
- Prepares injections for the Physician.
- Pulls up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies pertaining to the patient's exam.
- Assists patient with clothing when necessary.
- Disposes of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation, and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full.
- Answers telephones in patient areas and provides voicemail coverage for Physician.
- Requests reports for various facilities for Physicians.
- Empties and restocks laundry.
- Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order.
- Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart.
- Completes pre-certifications for MRI's and other Physician orders as necessary.
- Send Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative.
- Scans information into patient record (including all Physician orders, prescriptions, etc. on the date of service).
- Covers other areas in the office when not assigned to a Physician.
- Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested.
