About The Position

The following are specific guidelines for the functioning and responsibilities of Surgical Care Assistants assigned to the Operating Room/Post Anesthesia Care Unit/Preoperative Services.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Prefer relevant experience in an inpatient health care setting.

Responsibilities

Care of Scrub Areas and Clean Utility Rooms
Decontamination of Surgical Equipment according to Infection Control Guidelines
Care of Special Surgical Equipment, Instruments and Supplies
Care of Soiled Utility Rooms
Maintenance of Unsterile Linen Supply and Storage Areas
Maintenance of Floor Stock, Equipment, Supplies and Solutions
Care of Specimens
Patient Care
Transportation of Patients
Transportation of Blood, and Other Errands Outside the Operating Room
Care of Stretchers/Wheelchairs
Assist in Preparation and Set up of the Operating Room
Participates in the orientation program of new employee peers.
Communicates appropriately with the patient care team.
Utilizes proper channels of communication within the organization.
Covers rooms for peers in other services as assigned.
Maintains close availability to area.
Reports to Clinical Nurse Manager/designee at the beginning of scheduled shift and at the end of shift.
Takes accountability for time management.
Performs responsibilities that demonstrate excellence in customer service.
Answers Vocera and overhead pages promptly.
Contributes to a team working environment.
