About The Position

We are looking for a Surgical Athletic Trainer to support the Orthopedics department at Baptist Nassau. This is a Full-Time Days opportunity Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The Surgical Athletic Trainer is responsible for the delivery of health care services as part of a multidisciplinary team by providing athletic training services that are in accordance with the Florida state practice act. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Surgical athletic trainer who can efficiently manage high volumes of patients and procedures. This individual should thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess the skills and expertise to provide exceptional quality of care. Requirements

  • Certified Athletic Trainer Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR) Required
  • Bachelor's Degree

Nice To Haves

  • One-Two Years Biomechanics Experience Preferred
  • One-Two Years Wellness Experience Preferred
  • One-Two Years Rehabilitation Experience Preferred
  • One-Two Years Emergency Care Experience Preferred
  • Residency or Fellowship as an Athletic Trainer Preferred
  • Master's Degree

Responsibilities

  • Work with one or more physicians in the department of Orthopedic Surgery with direct patient contact primarily for the evaluation and treatment of medical and musculoskeletal pathologies for pediatric through geriatric populations in the clinic setting
  • Provide community/special event coverage on an as needed basis
  • Assists surgeon with patient positioning, preparation and draping.
  • Maintains sterile operating field, cuts sutures, assists MD with tissue retraction, exposure of the operative area, suctioning, sizing and preparation of previously harvested graft-tissue, position of arthroscopic camera, and suturing skin and wound closure under supervision of the physician.
  • Prepare and assist the physician with injection procedures done in the office.
  • Provides proper post-operative wound care and education, removal of sutures and dressing changes to post-surgical patients as directed by the attending physician.
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, assists in provision of continuity of care from offices visits through surgery if necessary as well as therapy needs.
  • Perform cast and/or durable medical equipment (DME) application and removal.
