About The Position

East Valley Periodontics is looking for an experienced and confident surgical assistant to join our growing team! We're a specialty office, so having an interest in periodontal or oral surgery is a must. At EVP, we place implants, perform sinus lifts, flap osseous surgery, bone grafting, crown lengthening, frenectomies, and tissue grafting, among other procedures. Our main location is in Mesa, but we also have a satellite office in Queen Creek where all of our doctors and assistants work 1-2 days a week. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, friendly environment where teamwork and employee value are prioritized. As a surgical assistant, you will be responsible for preparing the treatment area, assisting the doctor during procedures, and ensuring a high level of patient care. You will review patient schedules and correlating charts in advance to ensure readiness for treatment, open operatories by turning on all computers, setting up sterilization for the day, and ensuring rooms are ready for the first treatment. You will also be expected to anticipate the doctor's needs during surgery, obtain and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of the patient, and communicate this information to the doctor. Your role will also include obtaining dental radiographs and cone beam scans on patients, providing a high level of patient experience through effective communication, assisting the doctor in managing medical and dental emergencies, and providing post-operative instructions as prescribed. You will maintain clinical notes, document pertinent information in patient charts, generate post-operative reports for referring dentists, and collaborate with the front and back office to ensure smooth scheduling and communication of treatment plans. Adhering to infection-control policies and procedures is crucial, as is maintaining patient confidentiality per HIPAA. Additionally, you will assist with daily office cleaning responsibilities to ensure a safe and clean environment for both patients and staff.
