Be a part of a team transforming lives and supporting dreams every day! Requirements The Surgical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the care and preparation of surgical patients. Functions as a member of the sterile team in donning gowns and gloves, creating and maintaining a sterile field, and issuing instruments to surgeons. Sets up tables, instruments and supplies for plastic surgery operations Assists in preparation and draping of patient and operative areas Prepares and passes instruments, sutures, sponges and supplies needed in the operative procedure and maintains a correct count of the same Assists in maintenance and care of specimens for laboratory analysis Decontaminates all equipment, instruments and supplies Cleans and stocks storage room as required Assists with table equipment, positioning patients, application of plaster dressings Prepares and maintains the sterile field for the surgical procedure Assists in discharging patients from the Operating Room Suite Follows established HIPPA policies and procedures at all times Assumes accountability and responsibility for attendance and timely completion of mandatory training programs, unit specific requirements (i.e. BLS, ACLS, Surgical Assistant Certification) and unit meetings. Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in an Operating Room setting required
  • Surgical Assistant Certification required
  • Holds and maintains an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Prolonged periods of standing, reaching and bending
  • Must be able to lift up to 10-20 pounds at times
  • Good motor coordination required for rapid and accurate movements of the body and hand in response to visual and audio stimuli in the Operating Room
