About The Position

At Hill & Ioppolo Oral & Dental Implant Surgery of Lubbock, the Front Desk Surgical Assistant plays a vital dual role in supporting both the administrative and clinical teams. This individual is the first point of contact for our patients and provides chairside surgical assistance to our oral surgeons. We are looking for someone who brings professionalism, compassion, and strong organizational skills to ensure a high-quality experience for every patient—from check-in through post-operative care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Texas Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) license required.
  • CPR/BLS certification required; DAANCE certification preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of dental or oral surgery experience (including front desk and assisting).
  • Proficiency in dental software is highly preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients warmly, ensuring a professional and caring first impression.
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage the surgical calendar.
  • Verify insurance coverage, collect co-pays, and explain treatment plans or financial responsibilities when needed.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in our practice management software.
  • Communicate effectively with referring offices, patients, and internal staff.
  • Ensure the front office remains organized, clean, and patient-ready at all times.
  • Prepare operatories and surgical trays for procedures including extractions, implants, and IV sedation cases.
  • Provide chairside assistance during surgical procedures, including suctioning, instrument transfer, and patient monitoring.
  • Sterilize instruments and follow OSHA and infection control standards meticulously.
  • Take digital X-rays and CBCT scans as directed by the surgeon.
  • Provide post-operative instructions to patients and assist with follow-up appointments.
  • Track surgical supplies and assist in maintaining inventory levels.
  • Excels at directing one's own time and the time of others
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • Responds creatively and constructively with solutions to problems
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA standards
  • Adheres to strict safety guidelines and procedures to OSHA and office standards
  • Flexible and willing to perform the duties of others in their absence
