About The Position

The Surgical Assistant works under the direction and supervision of the attending physician to provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure and other intraoperative technical functions that assist the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. Performs preoperative and postoperative duties to meet needs of the patient during the perioperative period. Provides technical 1st and 2nd assistance for surgical procedures.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant Program or an equivalent program that meets the educational requirements of the designated national certifying body.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated skills related to Informatics Technology.
• Working knowledge of equipment with the ability to troubleshoot issues for resolution.
• National certification from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National certification from Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA) or National certification from American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA) required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• Physician relations experience strongly preferred.
