About The Position

The Surgical Assistant, Lead position at Straub Medical Center involves assisting with the daily operations of the Perioperative Services department. This role includes coordinating patient care activities and personnel, as well as serving as an assistant to the surgeon during surgical procedures to ensure safe operations and optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Post high school vocational training.
• Completion of an accredited surgical assistant training program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) OR Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) card.
• Two (2) years surgical assistant or technologist experience.

Nice To Haves

• Five (5) years surgical assistant or technologist experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily operations of the Perioperative Services department.
• Coordinate day-to-day operations of patient care activities and personnel.
• Serve as an assistant to the surgeon during surgical procedures.
• Carry out instructions from the surgeon as trained.
• Assist the surgeon in performing safe operations with optimum results for patients.
