About The Position

Your new career awaits you... We are looking for an experienced oral surgery assistant to support our oral surgeon before, during, and after each dental procedure. To be successful as an oral surgery assistant, you should be highly organized and attentive to patients' needs. An outstanding oral surgery assistant should have an excellent understanding of oral surgery procedures and exceptional hand-eye coordination.

Requirements

  • 5+ years previous clinical surgical assistant experience required.
  • Training / education from surgical assistant program required.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification required.
  • AART certification(s) required.
  • DAANCE certification required.
  • IV administration certification required.
  • CBCT and intraoral scanning training.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances.
  • Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude.
  • Working on-site is essential to the function of this position.
  • Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, stooping, turning, standing, bending, walking, hearing, reading, writing, and keyboarding, may lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years previous people management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assistant phone calls with Dr. Walker in the office
  • Order supplies
  • Joint Commission Monthly, Bi-annual, Yearly
  • Assist in surgeries (excluding IV Sed)
  • Simple implant and/ or bone graft
  • Emergency consult (excluding Implants)
  • Out of office coverage: phones, asst po, emergency consults
  • Support GAS set up
  • IV surgeries including 3rds
  • Recovery room
  • IV Sed GAS Surgeries
  • Dr Recon ITC Recon Implant Complex
  • Emergency consultants- implants
  • Orthognathic H&P
  • OMSA, ACLS
  • Restock supplies, forms/handouts, and rooms.
  • Take vital signs.
  • Understand all forms and handouts (procedure-based, consent forms, etc.).
  • Aware of and in compliance with OSHA requirements (e.g. personal protection)
  • Greet patients and make them feel comfortable.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing, and charting.
  • Perform patient consultations.
  • Provide discharge instructions.
  • Make follow up phone calls to patients.
  • Take X-Rays / scans.
  • Enter EMR notes for various appointments and procedures.
  • Ability to enter EMR notes for various appointments and procedures.
  • Coordinate treatment plans with referring dentists.
  • Knowledge of “e-prescribe” and Rx used in the clinical setting.
  • Ability to make dental impressions.
  • May direct the work of and/or train other team members.
