The ideal candidate will have experience as an Oral Surgical Assistant II and be committed to providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced oral surgery environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Oral Surgical Assistant II or equivalent role.
  • Strong knowledge of oral surgical procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and respond quickly during procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with sterilization techniques and infection control standards.
  • Certification as a Surgical Assistant or relevant credentials preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Working on-site is essential to the function of this position.
  • Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, stooping, turning, standing, bending, walking, hearing, reading, writing, and keyboarding, may lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Certification as a Surgical Assistant or relevant credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Proper instrument cleaning in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols.
  • Autoclave operation and function.
  • Surgical tray set-up.
  • Identification of instruments used in the clinic.
  • Room set up/break down for IV anesthesia and surgery.
  • Seat patient and perform pre-op set-up.
  • Review charts.
  • Nitrous oxide set-up.
  • Proper positioning of restraints.
  • Support airway for sedated patients.
  • Demonstrate patient calming techniques.
  • Ability to circulate and retrieve instruments.
  • Monitor patients post anesthesia.
  • Assess if patients need to see a doctor.
  • Understand emergency procedures and operation of emergency equipment.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and quarterly preventative maintenance on instruments, equipment, and headpieces.
  • Provide excellent patient care.
  • Familiar with all forms and handouts (procedure-based, consent forms, etc.).
  • Assist oral surgeons during a variety of surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile fields.
  • Provide chairside assistance including suctioning, retraction, and tissue management.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and assist with patient positioning during surgery.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
  • Assist with patient education and post-operative care instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and surgical documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to optimize workflow and patient outcomes.
  • Back-up co-workers as needed.
