About The Position

This position involves providing clinical care, patient education, information management, quality management, and professional development as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP). The NP/PA will work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care across various settings.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
  • Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License.
  • ACLS/BLS Certified, when indicated for position profile.
  • Clinical working experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required.

Nice To Haves

  • Pediatric position profile PALS, when indicated for neonatal care.
  • NRP Certification.
  • Additional licensure, certifications, and/or continuing education credits may be required during employment based on position and area of specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs throughout the disease process as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, review/order diagnostic/therapeutic tests and radiologic results, and formulate/manage patient treatment plans.
  • Educate patients/families on care and available resources, including treatment plans and potential side effects.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, and commitment to patient care.
  • Engage in projects that maintain and advance professional competency and serve as a clinical resource for new house staff.
