Requirements

• Graduate Degree, required.
• Master's of Physician Assistant Studies, Master's of Nurse Practitioner, or similar degree conferred by an accredited program, such as NCCPA and ARC-PA; required.
• One year of experience working in general or other surgical subspecialty, emergency/inpatient medicine, or comparable experience; preferred.
• 3 to 5 years experience, preferred.
• Current NP or PA license in appropriate state, registry required with state medical board.
• Current DEA registry.
• ACLS (not required for in-office only NP/PA).
• BLS.

Nice To Haves

• Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
• Proficient in the performance of clinic and bedside general surgery procedures, including but not limited to: Laceration repair, Incision and drainage of large abscesses, Punch biopsies, Removal of superficial skin lesions.
• Thorough skill in obtaining a surgical history and conducting a physical examination.
• Ability to write complete daily progress notes, consultation notes, and discharge summaries.
• Communication skills, both verbal and written.
• General computer knowledge.
• Ability to work independently, yet in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and care team.
• Ability to use problem-solving, decision-making, and creative thinking skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing clinical environment.
• Must participate in call rotation.
