About The Position

The Surgical Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at Baptist Health South Florida plays a crucial role in delivering patient care in collaboration with surgeons. This position involves conducting surgical history and physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing comprehensive care plans. The APP assists in surgeries, performs procedures in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and ensures continuity of care throughout the surgical process. This role requires high-level decision-making skills and the ability to manage patient care effectively across various settings.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant certification.
• Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license as per specialty/function.
• Compliance with state of Florida requirements for Continuing Medical Education (CMEs) and licensure.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as per specialty/function.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in collaboration with surgeons, both face-to-face and via telehealth.
• Conduct surgical history and physical exams.
• Order and interpret diagnostic and lab tests.
• Develop and implement patient care plans.
• Write prescriptions and controlled substances as per Delineation of Privileges.
• First assist in surgeries and perform surgical procedures under direct supervision.
• Manage patients in pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative settings.
• Perform inpatient rounding, consultations, wound care, and bedside procedures.
• Manage outpatient clinics and facilitate patient and family education.
• Participate in grand rounds and collaborate with staff and administration to ensure quality care.
• Provide on-call coverage requiring high-level decision making during weekdays, weeknights, and weekends.
