About The Position

Under the direction/supervision of the Core Desk Nurse Coordinator, Nurse Manager, Nursing Director or AVP of Surgical and Perioperative Services, the Surgery Unit Coordinator (U) provides clerical support, promotes a professional atmosphere, and effective communication with physicians, patients, and staff. Answers telephone calls and routes or takes messages appropriately. Greets medical staff to include providing directions when needed. Preserves a clean, safe, and functional work area in the assigned unit. Maintains unit inventory and orders supplies when appropriate. Maintains equipment in good working order at all times. Prepares reports and enters data and information into applicable systems. Keeps leadership and managing staff informed on unit issues. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to operate office related equipment (i.e., copier, fax machine, scanner, etc.)
