Under general supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Surgical Services, Director of ASC and direct supervision of Nurse Manager, Circulating RN, performs patient care for an assigned number of patients. At all times, patient assignments will be determined by adjustment of patient census and current staffing levels for the surgical area. Assignments to other surgical areas may occur as determined by patient and staffing census. The technician will be assigned up to 40 hours per week. The technician is expected to function according to approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. Assists in nursing care and preparation of the surgical patient by performance of routine delegated duties according to standards and policies of the hospital and department. The operating room technician performs scrub duties, performs housekeeping duties as necessary and assists in maintenance of all supplies. The operating room technician provides assistant in elective and scheduled cases, assist in preparation, transportation, and supervision of patients, and maintains education in surgical and related aspects of nursing. May be required to assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data in computer system. The technician is expected to function according to approved policies, procedures, and regulations of the department and organization. Must be able to work and relate in a professional, non-defensive manner with peers, physicians, administration, and visitors. Attendance to yearly Mandatory and assigned HealthStream education requirements is nonnegotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions. The employee is responsible for maintaining all certifications and licensure requirements on time.
