About The Position

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for demonstrating excellent customer service that promotes patient, staff, and customer satisfaction, reflecting the mission, vision, and values of Nemours. The Surgery Scheduler will schedule inpatient/outpatient surgeries and procedures for multiple departments as requested by the physician. This role involves submitting requests and ensuring authorization/precertification are obtained for all surgeries/procedures, diagnostic testing, OT, PT, Sleep Studies, and DME's as ordered by the physicians.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required
• At least 1 year of relevant scheduling experience required

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with patient families and providers to ensure great customer service.
• Promote open communication and a positive attitude with physicians and staff.
• Ensure all authorizations/precertification are secured prior to scheduled surgeries/procedures.
• Provide all needed surgical information to partnering hospitals/facilities.
• Educate patients and families regarding surgeries/procedures.
• Register patients and ensure correct demographics are in the system.
• Communicate with physicians and staff regarding difficult situations with scheduling and/or authorizations/pre-certifications.
• Familiarity with insurance plans regarding their terms and benefits.
