About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills to speak before groups of customers or employees.
  • Basic math skills to perform calculations involving rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in various forms.
  • Proficiency in typing at least 45 WPM and basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook/Office.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule procedures with appropriate facilities and providers efficiently.
  • Obtain pre-certification and authorization as necessary.
  • Educate patients on testing and surgical processes, including costs and deposits.
  • Provide excellent customer service by listening and addressing patient needs.
  • Relay relevant information to internal staff and follow practice procedures for appointment entry in EMR System.
  • Interpret physician requests and coordinate all scheduling aspects in a timely manner.
  • Identify scheduling problems and advise the Physician or Manager accordingly.
  • Collect and verify patient demographic information, diagnosis, and insurance details.
  • Communicate with the Business Office to determine patient responsibility estimates after confirming insurance plans.
  • Relay information to hospital and anesthesia personnel as needed.
  • Order necessary equipment for surgeries by contacting vendors when appropriate.
  • Answer phone calls, screen calls, take messages, and provide information to patients regarding procedures and appointments.
  • Make necessary corrections to patient and policyholder information and advise the Patient and Billing departments.
  • Participate in office meetings and educational activities.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and comply with HIPAA procedures.
