Responsible for managing the scheduling and coordination of procedures performed throughout the Surgical Services Department, including: Operating Room, Endoscopy, Pre-Op Screening, and the Pain Clinic, as well as coordinating Anesthesia staff needs in off- site locations. What will you do in this role: Provide excellent customer service. Continuously communicate with department managers to prevent overbooking of staff, surgical equipment and other departmental resources Accurately translate information given by physician's offices to procedure codes used by the Surgical Services Department and convey information in concise written form to appear on schedule. Coordinate multi-department needs in complicated cases, to include Central Wide Scheduling, Radiology, Pharmacy, physician's offices, and outside vendors. Create and distribute printed next-day schedules to hospital departments. System of checks/double checks of the Endoscopy schedule with the Atlantic Digestive office for accuracy of schedule two and three days out. Answer and respond to telephone inquiries and bookings, answer questions, and obtain information relating to the scheduling of procedures and appointments in a professional, efficient manner. Obtain pertinent and necessary demographic information and enter data accurately within the Meditech system. Work closely with Department of Anesthesia and Clinical Coordinators of the Operating Room and Endoscopy to facilitate an efficient flow of cases for the following day considering equipment and staff resources. Maintain and safeguard maximal level of confidentiality and integrity of patient's medical records and demographics. Note any outside equipment and reps coming in for procedures, as well as special considerations, such as MRSA or IDDM patients.
