Perioperative Dept. - Surgery Scheduler - Full-Time - 1st Shift
About The Position
This is an 8 hour per shift position working 40 hours weekly with possible weekend requirements. This role ensures accurate completion of surgical charts, coordination of pre-admission requirements, schedule surgical procedures, and maintenance of Epic Optime build components including preference cards, provider access, and required updates. The applicant will be trained to do surgery scheduling along with the unit clerk and greeter duties. This position is under the direction and supervision of the Director of Surgical Services. Flexibility in work schedule is a must as there will be days that your work schedule is adjusted to meet the needs of our patients.
Requirements
- High school diploma or high school equivalency required
- Knowledge of medical and diagnosing coding required
- Secretarial or clerical office experience required
- Prior hospital and healthcare office experience required
- Computer experience required; proficient in Excel, Word, and Epic required
- Experience with surgical scheduling, chart review, or pre-admission processes required
- Experience with verifying prior authorization for procedures required
- Must be able to complete all required Epic Optime Administrator training and/or certification within 6 months of assuming the role
- Must be proficient with all the basic tasks of the position within three months of training.
Nice To Haves
- Some college, Epic training, or secretarial coursework preferred
- Previous experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manning the nursing station performing clerical and receptionist duties.
- Requisition supplies, equipment, and services from other departments.
- Assist in compiling necessary statistics monthly, yearly, and as necessary.
- Knowledge of the principles of direct patient care, basic observations and essential points of care concerning emergency patients.
- Physical ability must allow for frequent stooping, bending, lifting and moving of patients.
- All other duties as assigned
