About The Position

1. Book, coordinate and reschedule patients' consultations and procedure appointments. Relay necessary messages to staff. 2. Greet patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner. Verify necessary information including insurance coverage. 3. Print and register daily referrals from fax queue and epic. Sorts and stores all patient files. 4. Patient check out when provider in office including the follow up appointment. Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies. 5. Schedule consults and mail out packets (if no assistant provided, based on the volume of the provider) 7. Screenings and recalls to be reviewed and scheduled on a weekly basis. 8. Maintain and update current information on physician's procedure schedules. 9. Function as office liaison to hospitals on behalf of the patients, including coordination of admitting arrangements and any hospital tests or equipment needed. 10. Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages and provide information. 11. Answer questions regarding patient surgical appointments and testing 12. Communicate questions or concerns for prompt resolution. 13. Update patient chart with any applicable information as necessary 14. Assist other office personnel in the performance of their duties as assigned and as workload permits. 15. Function as relief for other personnel in office as appropriate and to facilitate coworker's taking time out of the office. 16. Work in a cooperative and professional manner with physician and coworkers. 17. Attend required meetings and participates in committees as requested. 18. Enhance professional growth and development through in-service meetings and education programs. 19. Maintain patient confidentiality. 20. In the spirit of teamwork, employees are expected to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties as requested.

Requirements

  • EPIC and NexGen ARE A MUST/REQUIREMENT
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent required plus a minimum of three years of medical front office experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and computer experience, preferably Medical Manager software.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures including surgery procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of interrelationship of surgery department with laboratory and radiology.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type patient information.
  • Skill in operating a computer, photocopy machine, fax and other office equipment.
  • Skill in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians, coworkers and the public.
